History
The State Professional Institute for Services for Food and Hotel Hospitality has been operating in the territory of Soverato since 1963 and established by DECREE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC 30 September 1964, n. 1672 Art.
1 "Establishment of a State Professional Hotel Institute in Soverato (Catanzaro)". In 1966 he opened a coordinated office at the Hotel S. Michele in Cetraro which after a few months was transferred to the Municipality of Acquappesa, at the Terme Luigiane. Those were different years. At that time, the Hotel Institute of Soverato was on a path that would see it, twenty years later, as one of the most numerous schools in Soverato, a training ground for those young people who have now become the ruling class of operators in the hotel and restaurant sector. Over time it has organized receptions for important personalities such as: Pope H.S. John Paul II; the Presidents of the EEA Republic: Giuseppe Saragat, Sandro Pertini, Oscar Luigi Scalfaro; Ministers and Honourable Members.
Ceremonies and national holidays of the police (Carabinieri, State Police, Guardia di Finanza, Army).
Initiatives aimed at the best preparation and training of students have been organized through excellent demonstrations of Calabrian cuisine in Italy and abroad (Austria, England, Germany, Norway, Ireland, Spain, France).
In 2004 the Institute organized a Euro-Mediterranean Competition aimed at the hotel institutes belonging to the AEHT and those of the countries of the Mediterranean basin (one per country), as well as Italian hotel institutes.
The competition took place from 26 to 30 October 2004 and involved delegations from 36 European countries, delegations from the Mediterranean Basin area, and delegations from Italian schools.
Representatives per delegation: 4 - Total: about 200 people.
